WHAT MADE IT SPECIAL
This is without a doubt the most challenging post I’ve written since starting my little business, all of almost 6 years ago.
I cannot actually believe how the time has flown by, and going through photos to select for this post has been a super emotional process :)
As the old adage goes – I have some good news and some bad news. We’ll start with the bad news – we’re taking a hiatus (potentially permanent) from our photography business. We’ve already shot our final wedding and still have a couple of shoots to do, but after that we’ll officially be in photography retirement. This hasn’t been an easy choice to make by any means, but we’ve had a new little development in the Burnham household that has necessitated some restructuring to make room for their arrival :) You might have guessed where this is going, but we are super excited to let y’all know we have a little BABY on the way! :) :)
With Hubby and I also having two full-time jobs, unfortunately there just hasn’t been a way we could figure out how Bubs and a photography side-business would be able to fit in together. And as tough as it’s been, I know this is the right decision for us.
I still can’t actually believe that we were able to build this little business together – if I think of the journey it’s been from way back when it was a crazy dream of mine, to actually photographing weddings, I still can’t quite believe how everything unfolded, in its own time and in the best way possible. I can’t begin to explain how touched we have been to get to document some of the best occasions in our clients’ lives, to be trusted enough to come into peoples’ personal space and try to capture their stories and joy. It’s impossible to do something like this and remain unchanged, and I am eternally grateful for each precious experience we’ve had the joy to be a small part of :) We’ve had clients become friends, and friends who’s special memories we’ve captured, shared laughs (and tears) and come home from weddings with broken feet and hearts filled to the brim with happy vibes.
This site will still be around for a bit, and you may see a shoot here and there for close friends and family, so we won’t be entirely gone from memory :)
I thought it would be fitting to share a picture from each shoot we’ve done (those we have permission to display, of course) in chronological order from the start, because really, without these special people, none of this would have happened at all.
To our clients, friends and family, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us, trusting us and sharing your joy with us! We love you guys :)
And to my husband – love, thank you for not telling me I was crazy back when I picked up a camera and started photographing everything that couldn’t move away quickly enough. Thank you for supporting me in this dream of mine, and for when that support meant mucking in and literally doing all the heavy lifting and the not-so-glamorous work behind the scenes. I could never have done this without you! I can’t wait for our next adventure together and to start this new chapter in our lives :) You’re going to make the BEST dad. Every time I think I love you as much as anyone could possibly love, there’s something new that comes along to increase the depth and breadth of it xx
